| | Description | The pinnacle of alien evolution, Maw is a cowardly fat blob concerned mostly with snacking and lounging. He can, however, absorb the traits of anything he eats, is virtually indestructible, and can grow to unlimited size. If he wasn't a danger to all life in the universe, he'd make the perfect pet. In this action/adventure game, he's the best friend of our hero Frank, and only by working together can Maw eat their way to freedom. The Maw was honored with the Audience Choice Award in the 2008 PAX-10 showcase of independent games. | |

Wacky fun Apr 09, 2009
By Jennifer The Maw is a wacky game that's really fun to play. It's friendly to get into and has a fun story, so even people new to gaming will enjoy it. There are some action and puzzle sequences that will be fun and challenging to classic gamers, too! So, people that like adventure puzzles will like this. Some gameplay elements are even like Katamari - the Maw has to keep eating bigger things until he gets big enough to eat the next batch - so fans of Katamari will like this game. This game is so different than anything else on Arcade, it's totally worth checking out. -Jenny Lynn

The Maw - Unique, if not short May 20, 2009
By Mary J. The Maw is a fun 3D platformer that will entertain for at least an afternoon.
The concept is that you are an alien that has been kidnapped and then your captors' ship crashes on a planet. You befriend Maw, a hungry, hungry blob alien that will eat just about anything you drag to him. Eating different creatures gives Maw different powers that you can use throughout the levels.
I enjoyed playing Maw and think that it is a decent little game with a nice mix of humor. My only complaints are that it was linear (only one ability per level, each level seemed very short) and that there is no replay value. Once I played through the levels, collecting all of the creatures and earning the achievements, I had no desire to play the game again.
I think that this game is worth the $10, but be warned that you will enjoy one full play through and then be done.
Great, although brief, game Apr 08, 2010

My son (5 years old) wanted this game after playing the demo. I ended up played it more than him! This is such a cute game. The gameplay is simple and the story line is intriguing enough to make you want to keep playing. Its always fun to engage Maw and have him acquire his various powers after dining on certain creatures. The game was very short, but I look forward to future games by Twisted Pixel! Recommended for anyone that wants to enjoy a casual, fun, cute game.

Maw Is Just Plain MAWSOME! May 04, 2009
By Jaysonguy Maw is a terrific game that everyone should give a whirl.
You play as Frank, an alien that was taken captive on a ship that crash lands, you find Maw who was another prisoner. 2 things...
1. You have to escape the planet 2. Maw eats anything except you.
You lead him around on a leash and your main objective is to just make it to the end of a level. You do this by completing various puzzles and making Maw eat every single thing you can find for him.
In some levels Maw will take on the traits of what he eats and in turn help solve the puzzles.
Some people are going to say this game is bad and well, they lie. I'm sorry but it had to be said. You know how there's something everyone loves but one person wants to get all "Look I'm different I hate it I'm unique"? These people could get a glass of lemonade and complain the ice cubes aren't square enough. So if you happen to read any negative views about this game (you know, around your town or near mine on this page) just read it and know they're busy writing a review of ice cube trays as we speak.
Overall this game is a lot of fun and extra levels can be purchased for a buck each if you want.
The only thing that MIGHT be an issue is the length but for those who like to complete everything in a game it'll take a while.
So in closing, This game = Good Those who don't like it = Lie
