Rock Revolution - Pretty good, actually Jul 15, 2010
By Joshua L Clifton Keep in mind, paid $8.96 for the game and drum set...
My take is this - This game really isn't bad, just isn't as good as it's competitors.
Start with the drum set, I'd read nothing but bad things about it. I have to say, I disagree with all of them. The set feels tough, works well, and has one feature that I really like... The drumsticks rest comfortably on this set, well out of the way and won't just fall off if you nudge it. My 15 month old has given it quite a beating, knocking it over and such, still works great. Oh, this has the kick pedal of any of the drum sets I've used with game systems (and I've used all of the ones currently out there).
The really good about this game starts and ends with the drum set. Everything else is fairly average. Use drums and two guitar hero/rock band guitars, and that's your game. No vocals, in this one. Not sure what happened, there. Also, I believe the tracks are all covers, but they sound pretty good. Can't complain.
This game is the perfect starting point, to see if you like the music game genre. Low price of entry, all that.
But remember, before you know it, you have 4 drum sets and 8 plastic guitars in the house...

Just awful. Jun 01, 2009
By D. Vela I bought this because it was the Videogame Deal of the Day.
Big mistake. The game is 99% covers (not original Master Recordings) and the one Master is a Linkin Park song.
For parents or family shopping for an inexpensive music game as a gift: Please do your loved-one a favor and do not get them this game.
If you've read this far and still haven't run for the hills, the game is horrible. Graphics are sub-par and the cover songs sound like someone singing in the shower. Oh, the drumkit is shoddy and the note-highway is a vertical waterfall of jumbled mess. Just skip this poor attempt at cashing-in on rythm game popularity.

Buy it to use the drums with another game Jun 01, 2010
By M. Burks I saw that this Rock Revolution + Drum pack was on sale for abotu $13 on Amazon. I had read on the official Rock Band site that the Rock Revoultion drumset was compatible, and I needed a drum set that didn't cost $70. Sure enough, the drumset is fully compatible with Rock Band and Rock Band 2. The construction is even sturdier than Rock Band's own drumset; all the supporting beams are made of metal, while the bass pedal and the actual drum pad area is made of extremely thick plastic. The bass pedal won't break like Rock Band's original bass pedal. There are two negative features: the pads are smaller and are designed to mimic a real drumset, and they're not in a simple arc/line like Rock Band's. You will have to get used to moving your sticks to a different position, and it will take a while for you to make sure you're landing on the smaller surface area. The second negative feature is that if you hit the green pad too strong, it will also count as a hit on the yellow pad. The sensors are too sensitive, so you can't got all-out and hit it as hard as you want, although the unit can take it because of its solid construction.
I haven't played the actual Rock Revolution game. It looked awful and has the worst reviews for a rythm game. I just bought it for the drumset, which gets a thumbs-up for its $13 price point!

The game could have been better, and Konami knows it. Feb 05, 2009
By T. BUFORD Konami did not do a good job with this game. I am unable to configure the game properly for an HDTV. I have no problems with the game when I am playing on a regular CRT TV, but because HDTVs have some latency, it is difficult to configure the game for this latency problem. Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour both make it very simple to configure the game to deal with latency issues. Latency is a very big issue when dealing with music games because milliseconds count. If you already have the Rock Band 2 Drum Kit or the Guitar Hero World Tour Drum Kit, then you will not need to get the Rock Revolution Drum Kit.

By Halfpint So we received the Drum Set and tried it out right away its going to take a little getting use to, but once we have the hang of it, it should be fun. Thanks
