Amazing for its time Mar 16, 2011
By SMB Madman It was 1978. People were introduced to blasting aliens into a pulp. They were only able to experience that kind of shooting action in the arcades. That game that caused it too happen was Space Invaders. Later, Namco made a rival named Galaxian, in which the game is in color, and the aliens would zoom downward the screen. Later again, it was time for a sequel to come into the space shooting scene. That game is GALAGA!
Galaga took in what made Galaxian and Space Invaders very good games and multiplied it 10 times. The enemies now do cool and flashy stunts, whereas the boss Galagas can steal your ship. You can also take BACK the ship by shooting the Galaga with your ship and then combine the firepower with the ship you're using!
The game becomes more and more fun as you destroy the moving stunt aliens as you would go on and face Challenging Stages. Those levels show enemies performing unique stunts, along with even making their own movements. There isn't really a chance that they would try to kill your ship, so it's more of a bonus round than a real level.
Overall, it's an amazing arcade game that still lives up to today.
